Marwood London are quite simply my favorite accessories brand. Launched in January 2011, the brand specialise in designing and creating handcrafted ties and bow ties in the finest fabrics such as woven silk, wool and traditional English leavers lace. The pieces that they create are both modern and heritage, celebrating British tradition and technique and each product is a treasure to be worn again and again.
For Spring/ Summer 2014, Marwood have combined mosaic construction with decayed texture. Colours come from time worn interiors, inside deserted Icelandic farmhouses, captured by the photographer Orri in his book "Interiors". Orri was inspired by interiors that were once bright and inhabited and the effects of time and decay.
The new Marwood collection uses these influences, along with monochrome mosaic tiles in old English hallways, to create textured pieces alongside clean, regimented lines and patterns. New silk woven jacquards were formed from ink-drawn tile constructions and a hand drawn mosiac floor design is seen on the tran-seasonal men's shawl.
The new range includes woven ties, scarves, luxurious jacquard print pocket squares, braces and self bow ties. Lace neckwear comes in washed out khaki and brown silk linings behind ecru mesh & mesh lace patterns. Evening wear has been re-interpreted in black lace over washed brown silk. All of the range has been designed, developed and made in the UK using English cloth or yarns.
The lookbook images featured in this post, were shot by photographer Kate Peters in an old Brockley townhouse. The warm family home, with time worn surfaces and aged colours was the perfect setting for the images of street cast model Andrew.
