Best of the Milan Mens Shows

The Milan shows have showcased the best of Italian tailoring, over the top design and flashy decadence. Here is my pick of the best of the shows and key trends.

Kolor

Fantastic, wearable trousers moving away from a skinny silhouette and great, easy floppy hats.

Ermenegildo Zegna

Love the printed, silk scarves tucked into the slimming knitwear and this coat was a highlight that would work through seasons.

Dolce and Gabbana

The Italian heavyweights combined mythology with Sicily, worn by tanned and buff models. There were so many great pieces in this show - the short shorts, the sublime printed bomber jacket and a white  suit never looked so good.

Versace

There is no such thing as "too much" for Donatella Versace. This was power dressing for men taken to new extremes.

Corneliani

The perfect wardrobe to wear when cruising around Italy for the Summer. The pastels were the perfect shade and everything looked like the best of Italian luxury. The knitwear was especially strong, especially this lovely brown jumper with contrast sleeves.

Bottega Veneta

This collection reminded me of a slick Talented Mr Ripley. Highlights include the suede bomber (one jacket that is going nowhere) and the boxy, loose shirt.

Trussardi

An effortlessly elegant collection with great knits and loose trousers. Interesting mix of fabrics too.

Vivienne Westwood

A typically whimsical mix of fabrics, prints and cuts. The neckerchief trend was still strong. There was an almost nomadic feeling to this collection.

Prada

Stronger and stronger each season. There were so many trends here - the horizontal pinstripes, the tropical prints which have been a massive trend this season which was a romantic, nostalgic trip to post Second World War Hawaii. So cool. So current.

Emporio Armani

Worryingly the trend of see through tops does not seem to be going anywhere fast.

Gucci

Florals are still strong for next Spring and Gucci had some of the best prints of the season.

Canali

One of the strongest shows of the season in my opinion. Wonderfully chic, almost English style tailoring. Fantastic details - peak lapels on a double breasted suit, razor straight pockets.

Fendi

Sharp and slim, colourful with great attention to detail and mix of fabrics.

Brioni

The best tailoring of MFW. More double breasted suits, with subtle checks. The best collection to make you stand out in the office.

Ports 1961

More camel and cream shades, this time with a geeky twist.
